וַיַּעֲמֹ֣ד הַ֠מֶּלֶךְ עַֽל־הָ֨עַמּ֜וּד וַיִּכְרֹ֥ת אֶֽת־הַבְּרִ֣ית ׀ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהוָ֗ה לָלֶ֜כֶת אַחַ֤ר יְהוָה֙ וְלִשְׁמֹ֨ר מִצְוֺתָ֜יו וְאֶת־עֵדְוֺתָ֤יו וְאֶת־חֻקֹּתָיו֙ בְּכָל־לֵ֣ב וּבְכָל־נֶ֔פֶשׁ לְהָקִ֗ים אֶת־דִּבְרֵי֙ הַבְּרִ֣ית הַזֹּ֔את הַכְּתֻבִ֖ים עַל־הַסֵּ֣פֶר הַזֶּ֑ה וַיַּעֲמֹ֥ד כָּל־הָעָ֖ם בַּבְּרִֽית׃
Y poniéndose el rey en pie junto á la columna, hizo alianza delante de SEÑOR, de que irían en pos de SEÑOR, y guardarían sus mandamientos, y sus testimonios, y sus estatutos, con todo el corazón y con toda el alma, y que cumplirían las palabras de la alianza que estaban escritas en aquel libro. Y todo el pueblo confirmó el pacto.

It is customary that all those attending a circumcision, stand throughout the ceremony, for it is said, "And all the people stood in the covenant,"3II Kings 23:3. excepting the sandek, who holds the baby while seated. After the father recites the berachah, Lehachniso, and those assembled answer amein, they all say, "Just as he was initiated into the covenant, so may he be initiated into the study of Torah, to the Chupah, and to the performance of good deeds."
